The primitive oot.
Strong’s H3004 יבשה yabbashah, a concrete noun meaning, “dry ground;” from Strong’s H3001 יבש yabash, a primitive root meaning, “to dry up.” The 3-letter root is yud + bet + shin.
yud י = the closed hand, thus work, throw, worship
bet ב = the house, thus house, household, family, in, within
shin ש = two front teeth, thus sharp, press, eat, two, again
The parable comes from its first occurrence in Scripture:

Think of a potter preparing clay to use in a vessel. The earth is enclosed (yud) within (bet) the hand, and squeezed (shin, in the sense of applying pressure) to remove the water.
