Hosea 13 and 14, Healing their backsliding
Additional studies: Hosea Index
Hosea was prophesying of a time to come, when Israel will return to YHVH with the words of the sacrifices of his lips to take away his iniquity, and not the sacrifices of bulls and goats. Because of Messiah’s sacrifice for sin, Israel can return to YHVH bringing words with him (1 Joh 1:8-9). YHVH will heal Ephraim’s backsliding, they will return to Him and reject their idols. Thank You Father!
Psalm 42, The abundant salvation of His presence
Additional studies: Psalms, Book Two: Psalms 42-72 Index
In verse 5, it’s as if the psalmist says, “My hope rests in the overflowing deliverance that comes when God turns His face toward me.” When He turns His face, His attention, and His presence toward me in order to enact deliverance (vs. 5) then that has a tangible effect on my face. My hope in the coming answer changes my downcast aspect to one of joy instead (vs. 11).
2 Corinthians 11, True and false ministers
Additional studies: 1 & 2 Corinthians Index
And in the end, the differences stem from different motivations: the true minister, called and anointed by God, loves the flock with godly love placed there by God, while the false minister loves himself and uses the flock to feed his self- love.
