Essential Studies.
Isaiah 8, When YHVH is your sanctuary
Additional studies: Isaiah Index
The Assyrians devised a plan (filling the breadth of your land) and spoke their words, but the plan was thwarted and the words did not stand. Hezekiah kept YHVH as his fear, spreading the Assyrian threats before Him in prayer. YHVH answered: “Do not be afraid because of the words that you have heard.” That night, the angel of YHVH struck 185,000 Assyrians, and Sennacherib fled. Jerusalem was delivered, proving “God is with us” and YHVH is our sanctuary. Do you feel the water closing in around you? Do not fear; He will be your sanctuary!
Psalm 57, Chiastic structure
Additional studies: Psalms, Book Two: Psalms 42-72 Index
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let Your glory be above all the earth (Psa 57:5,11) is the central axis of the structure, but also the conclusion to the psalm at the end of the psalm. The poetic structure of the psalm magnifies YHVH in its words, and then multiplies that magnification. The beauty makes your soul want to weep before the throne. ♥
Ephesians 3, Knowing that surpasses knowledge
Additional studies: Ephesians Index
Paul’s prayer is not that the Ephesians will merely know about Messiah’s love (have a factual knowledge of), but will experience Messiah’s love in its full totality, to its limits in its breadth, length, depth, and height. Then they will have surpassed knowledge. He’s praying for a love encounter with the living God. ♥
