Essential Studies.
Isaiah 10, Repentance, and return
Additional studies: Isaiah Index
For over a century, both Isaiah and Jeremiah urged repentance and a return to YHVH to avert judgment. God was on a very long arc over multiple generations to warn His people to learn by instruction, and not by the rod of correction. In Isaiah 10, Isaiah warns that the rod of correction in His hand will be the fierce nation of Assyria. However, even if it does come to the rod of correction, “A remnant will return, a remnant of Jacob, to the Mighty God” (Isa 10:21).
Psalm 58, The righteous who repent and return
Additional studies: Psalms, Book Two: Psalms 42-72 Index
It becomes the nature of the righteous to seek after God, to love Him, and to walk in His ways. The righteous are not perfect, they make mistakes and sin. Even David, the man after God’s own heart, sinned grievously. But the righteous always repent and return, that is their defining characteristic. When YHVH utters His voice, they HEAR Him. ♥
Ephesians 4, Embodying the truth in love
Additional studies: Ephesians Index
But embodying the truth in word, in deed, in love, we may grow up in all things into Him who is the head, Messiah. Eph 4:15
To embody truth is a single verb in Greek, Strong’s G226, ἀληθεύω alētheúō, “to be true.” The Greek grammar literally reads, “truthing in love,” so speaking truth, yet far more than what comes out of the mouth. “Truthing” is to embody truth in all aspects of life: what we say, what we do, how we conduct our affairs, and the way in which we walk. We do truth in love, that is, in Agape Love, Strong’s G26 — strong love, sacrificial love, love exercised by the will without recourse to emotion.
