1/2 c butter
1-1/4 c dark brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
4 T dark rum or ? rum flavoring
1 c heavy cream
Melt the butter in a small saucepan over high heat, add the brown sugar and rum and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook over high heat for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Whisk in the cream and cook 2 more minutes. Stir in the vanilla, and chill until cold.
bourbon caramel sauce
Make as above, substituting 4 T bourbon for the rum in the sauce.
