The History that Prophesies following Jacob acquisition of property, is defilement with Canaanites—not only the rape of Dinah, but also Simeon and Levi’s sin of murder. It is a warning to us, that if we make this world our dwelling place, instead of remained sojourners in a land not our own, we will incur defilement. For Abraham and his seed, YHVH is our exceedingly great reward.

Something significant did happen: 3-1/2 years after Antiochus set up the abomination in the Temple, Judas Maccabees and his forces (those who knew their God and who did exploits, Dan 11:32) retook Jerusalem and the Temple, and purified it. Antiochus set up the abomination in 167 BC, and Judas retook Jerusalem and the Temple in 164 BC, toward the end of the year. This is the event that Hanukkah celebrates every year.

But disregarding, forgetting, or forsaking His commandments is the way of death, for the foolish man who has not heeded shall die for lack of instruction (Pro 5:23). It’s not that the foolish are not told instruction; it’s that they disdain it when they hear it. Because they refuse to heed it, they perish needlessly.
