Essential Studies.
Genesis 38 and 39, Joseph’s story interrupted with Judah’s story
Additional studies: Genesis Index
I think Judah had a guilty conscience (he was responsible for Joseph being sold), and removing himself from the inheritance of Abraham shows that he realized he had blown it also, just like Reuben, just like Simeon, and just like Levi; that he was not worthy of God. You know, only the people who know they have done wrong, in whom the Spirit is working to convict of sin and righteousness, hide from God. The proud and arrogant shake their fist at Him and dare Him to strike them with lightning.
Zechariah 7 and 8, YHVH returning to the Land
Additional studies: Zechariah Index
Israel does not have peace, because her enemies are trying to kill her. But I believe when Messiah returns He will deal with Israel’s enemies and she will have true peace with no one to trouble her. The return of the remnant to the land is tied to the return of YHVH to the land – who is Messiah Yeshua in His 2nd advent!
Proverbs 13, On having a teachable heart
Additional studies: Proverbs Index
Receiving correction requires humility. If we cannot receive correction without taking offense, then let that be a barometer to us, that we need to humble our pride, confess the sin of pride to our Creator and perhaps to anyone who has tried to bring correction to us unsuccessfully, and ask the Father to cleanse us of all unrighteousness, including pride, strife, and foolishness.
