Zechariah 9 and 10, The fifth prophetic message
Additional studies: Zechariah Index
Notice that the sons of Zion will prevail over the sons of Greece, a clear common theme connection to Dan 11, which was fulfilled when the Maccabees overthrew Grecian rule in Israel – the victory Hanukkah celebrates every year. Daniel’s prophecy continues into Dan 12, where the war between Zion and Greece are connected to the present time. Greece is not going to re-dominate the world. But the sons of the kingdoms of this world war against the sons of Zion (whose citizenship is of the kingdom of heaven). And, Judah and Ephraim are in this fight together! They are the two witnesses of Rom 11 and Rev 11— Jews and Christians!
Proverbs 14, The wise woman who builds her house
Additional studies: Proverbs Index
God may have given husbands the outward power of the family, but He has given wives the quiet inward power to shape the atmosphere, the hearts, and the destiny of her home. She “builds” not with tools but with words, tone, priorities, example. The Septuagint renders the Hebrew “builds” with οἰκοδομέω, the very same verb Paul uses when he urges us to “edify” one another (1 Cor 14:4, Eph 4:29). A wise woman edifies—literally “builds up”—her husband and her children, while the foolish woman tears her house down “with her own hands,” with careless words, or resentment, or criticism. The wise woman creates shalom bayit—peace in the home—not by force, but by the gentle, persistent building up of every soul entrusted to her care.
