Essential Studies.
Genesis 43 and 44, Judah a Prophetic Type for Messiah
Additional studies: Genesis Index
Judah’s speech is strikingly set off by the {s} paragraph division, highlighting his astonishing offer to become a slave in Benjamin’s place. Slavery is a metaphor for death, because it means the utter end of one’s former life—and Judah, unaware that the entire ordeal was staged, genuinely believed he would spend his remaining days enslaved in Egypt. Rather than allowing Benjamin to bear the punishment, Judah—moved by profound love for their father—substituted himself. This voluntary “death” powerfully foreshadows Yeshua’s substitutionary sacrifice. Now look again at the central axis of the chiastic structure, Genesis 42:29–38. The spotlight is on the father’s love for his beloved son Benjamin. Do not miss this: we stand in Benjamin’s place in the prophetic type! Oh, the unfathomable depth of God’s love and mercy toward us—we have not comprehended it! ♥
Esther 5 and 6, And the signs of Messiah
Additional studies: Esther Index
Esther faced death, and was willing to lay down her own life in order to intercede to the king on behalf of her people. Self-sacrifice is the 1st sign of Messiah. When the king held out his scepter, her death sentence was lifted. Resurrection is the 2nd sign of Messiah. And, her “resurrection” occurred after three days, the length of her fast. The number three is the 3rd sign of Messiah.

In our culture, we tend to view falsehood or deceit as one of the lesser sins. Yet to YHVH, it is an abomination: something twisted and dark, inspiring horror.
