Essential Studies.
Nehemiah 1 through 3, Rebuilding walls
Additional studies: Nehemiah Index (in process)
The certain death, in this case, is the broken down walls and gates surrounding Jerusalem. Jerusalem is a type of the Bride of Messiah, the city of the great King (Rev 21:9-10). Walls are a defensive weapon. It prevents the enemy access, and keeps its citizens secure within. After three days, Nehemiah and the people began to rebuild the walls. That is the resurrection life.
Proverbs 24, Why we correct our children
Additional studies: Proverbs Index
In this chapter we learn that the reason we do not withhold correction from a child, is that a child, whose heart is bound up with foolishness, is stumbling toward death. Death and destruction is the end of foolishness, if one does not turn. And godly correction is designed to help children make that turn. Godly correction delivers a child from death. If you see someone on the road to death, and stand back with your arms folded and say nothing, that is not love! (Pro 13:24).
Revelation 18, Babylon’s fall
Additional studies: Revelation Index
This is not the first time in Scripture that God called His righteous out of the corrupt city waiting to receive the plagues which will overthrow it — God called Noah out of the world that perished (Gen 6-8), and Lot out of Sodom before He overthrew it (Gen 19). It is NOT a coincidence that Jesus told His disciples that it would be like the days of Noah, and like the days of Lot, before His return (Luk 17:22-30). Because this is the generation that is awaiting the Lord’s return, this is the generation that is being called out of Babylon.
