Malachi 3 and 4, Until the coming of that Day
Additional studies: Malachi Index (in process)
God’s definitions of righteousness and wickedness (sin) have not changed just because Yeshua has died on the cross so that we could be forgiven our violations of Torah. That forgiveness does not confer license to continue to sin, but to all who receive His mercy, His word remains “Go, and sin no more” (Joh 8:11). He does not change (Mal 3:6), and His mercy toward us—despite our sins—has not changed, and because of it we have not been consumed like stubble from that day until this. But the Day is coming when those who persist in wickedness against Him will be consumed like stubble (Mal 4:1) therefore fear YHVH and wait for Him. Until that great and awesome Day, remember the Law of Moses (Mal 4:4) and walk in the Spirit!
Proverbs 31, A woman of valor
Additional studies: Proverbs Index
All our modern English Bibles call the woman, a woman of virtue, but the Hebrew Bible in English calls her, a woman of valor. It is the same Hebrew word used over and over again in Samuel and Chronicles of the mighty men of valor! The Etymological Dictionary of Biblical Hebrew says it is “to enable, to concentrate power and resources.” And isn’t this exactly what the woman of valor does daily, bringing order out of chaos, tidiness out of the ever pervasive accumulation of dirt and clutter, nourishing and delicious food to meet hunger which is never satisfied (because the next day you only have to do it again), and wise children out of fools? Her worth is far above rubies!
