God is going to reveal who He is to Pharaoh and the Egyptians. Pharaoh just haughtily told Moses, “I do not know YHVH, nor will I let Israel go” (Exo 5:2). Well, class is now in session. By the sign of the rod becoming a serpent, and moreover, swallowing the magicians’ serpent-rods, He introduced Himself, and provided an opportunity to obey, with zero consequences for Egypt. And we will see this pattern of incremental severity, with opportunities to repent and obey, Repeat throughout the plague judgments.
Psalm 50, Covenant faithfulness

When God’s people substitute covenant forms for covenant faithfulness, He rebukes them.
Romans 7, Dead to the Law
Additional studies: Romans Index
When Paul says we have become dead to the Law, does he mean that God’s instruction in righteous living no longer applies to us? This is the interpretation the churches are making who ordain homo[s-x]ual pastors who are living with their partners. But how can it be right, when Paul just instructed us to present our members as slaves to obedience leading to righteousness? To what does Paul suggest we become obedient? Of course, that which God has said—what He has voiced, His Word, which contains His Law—the instruction or teaching in righteousness, which is not sin, which is holy and just and good, and which is even spiritual. Of course it has to be, since the Word came forth from the mouth of God, by the Spirit of God! God’s Word and His Spirit agree, and His Word, which is Torah, which is Messiah, is not divided against Himself to cross purposes.
