Essential Studies.
Exodus 25 through 27, The natural picture of the tabernacle
Additional studies: Exodus Index
I have been dwelling on the tabernacle not as an end in and of itself, but as a natural picture teaching a spiritual truth. Natural Pictures are a Teaching Tool of Scripture, and one Yeshua made heavy use of in His first advent. Parables are, after all, a natural picture–a story of something we are well familiar with in our daily lives–which teach spiritual truths.
Exodus 11, Glory resounding to YHVH
Additional studies: Exodus Index
Exo 11:10 can be seen as a summary, not only to be applied to the plague of darkness, but to all nine plagues inflicted on Egypt thus far. Pharaoh’s heart was hardened toward God’s demand, and toward all the wonders which Moses and Aaron had performed, so that God’s glory and fame resulting from the wonders, might be multiplied in Egypt. YHVH’s glory and fame needed to resound in Egypt, because Egypt was the premier nation on the earth in the days of Moses. When YHVH shows Himself greater and more glorious than the greatest nation on earth, then the nations learn to fear Him, and by extension, to pay heed to Him when He speaks.
Psalm 52, The edifying tongue of the righteous
Additional studies: Psalms Book Two (42-72) Index
This psalm makes a Comparison and Contrast between the wicked with an evil tongue, and the righteous with an edifying tongue. The wickedness of the wicked, in this case, is in his evil speaking: he boasts, speaks lies and falsehoods, razor-sharp words that devour (another’s joy, or confidence, or hope). He seems to grow in might, trusting in his own riches instead of in God, but God will uproot him, no matter how deeply he attempts to sink his roots. The righteousness of the righteous, on the other hand, is in his edifying tongue. Praise, thanksgiving, and gratitude pours out of his mouth in the assembly of the faithful. His trust is in the steadfast love of God, deeply planted in the house of God (not a dwelling of his own making) withstanding all the barbs the wicked launch his way. ♥
