First occurrence
So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden the cherubim, and the flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way to the tree of life. Gen 3:24
The primitive root
Strong’s H1644 גרש garash, a primitive root meaning, “to expel.” The 3-letter root is gimel + resh + shin.
gimel ג = the foot, thus foot, walk, gather
resh ר = the head of man, thus head, first, top, beginning, man
shin ש = two front teeth, thus sharp, press, eat, two, again
The story: To become a walking (gimel) man (resh) once more (through the idea of a repeat, shin).
