Judges 2:1-23 Chiastic Structure
Judges 2:11-23 Chiastic Structure:
And the people served YHVH all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great work of YHVH, that He had wrought for Israel. Jud 2:7
And also all that generation were gathered to their fathers; and there arose another generation after them, that did not know YHVH, nor yet the work which He had wrought for Israel. Jud 2:10
And YHVH said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh; for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might show these My signs in the midst of them; and that you may tell in the ears of your son, and of your son’s son, what I have wrought upon Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them; that you may know that I am YHVH.” Exo 10:1-2
The next generation must hear the great works which YHVH has done, if they are to know that He alone is God, so that false gods are not a trap and a snare for them. And of course the mothers must make His great works known, but the command is directed specifically at the fathers. Joshua’s generation did not make YHVH’s mighty works known to their sons, or their sons’ sons, and a generation arose that did not know YHVH. Yeshua said, the son does what he sees his father doing (Joh 5:19), not what he sees his mother doing. Rise up, O men of God, and have done with lesser things! Give heart and soul and mind and strength to serve the King of kings!
