What does it mean when the LORD is KING of your life? The Canaanites were wiped out as a people, so that not one was left breathing, because they refused to acknowledge that the LORD was God, that He has made us and not we ourselves; they refused to acknowledge that He was King and that as King, He had the right to command and they had the duty to obey His commands.
When the LORD is King, we can enter His gates with thanksgiving, since He is good and His mercy is everlasting. To those who have submitted their lives to Him, there is joy in His presence. To those who have refused to submit their lives to Him, there is fear in His presence. They instead do everything to avoid His presence.
When the LORD is King, your life will not be like the others in the world. What you FEAR will be different. If someone truly fears the LORD, then:
He will not fear to have his secret words spoken publicly, for they will be the same.
He will not fear those who can kill the body.
He will not fear to confess Jesus before men.
He will not fear to testify before judges, rulers, and kings.
He will not fear the future, even in uncertain economic times.
He will not store up treasure on the earth, but in heaven instead.
He will not fear his Master’s return, for he will be found doing his Master’s will at His return.
But what we are NOT to fear:
“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32
We are not to fear that we, after we have submitted to Him in love, will somehow miss out in having a place in His kingdom! It is His good pleasure to give the kingdom to us!
