Essential Studies.
Exodus 35, A God-commissioned work
Additional studies: Exodus Index
We are being taught by prophetic type and example how to accomplish a God-commissioned work. The work opens with a repeat of the Sabbath commandment. Out of all the Ten Commandments, the Sabbath commandment has been repeated more than any of the other commandments. He repeats it again here, because His people are about to embark on a great work – something He commanded them to do. Even when our work is a God-commissioned work of the ministry to advance the kingdom, that “work shall be done for six days, but the seventh day is a holy day (holiday) for you, a Sabbath of rest to YHVH,” (Exo 35:2).

Poisonous words can be counteracted. First, never speak one yourself! When you are discouraged, the enemy feeds that discouragement with his poisoned words. “I’m a failure,” “I can’t do this,” “I can never get free from this,” “My life is falling apart,” “He or she will never amount to anything,” etc. – all of which are shown to be lies by the promises in God’s word – the wholesome words which counteract the venom! ♥
1 Corinthians 1, The foolishness of God
Additional studies: Corinthians Index
Why does the world seek after wisdom and signs? It seeks to know God, but they want to know Him on their own terms — and God will not be known on man’s terms, but on His terms. His terms are: “Believe on Me, and in Jesus Christ whom I have sent, and I will save you.” Men don’t like it, because it does not exalt themselves or their own effort. They cannot work for it and get rewarded, so their own pride and accomplishments don’t get stroked. So the cross is foolishness to the world and its wisdom, but faith is the power and wisdom of God.
