Leviticus 24 and 25, Death swallowed up in life
Additional studies: Leviticus Index
Literally, the architecture of this Chiastic Structure is proclaiming death swallowed up in life, in grace, in rest, in not working to earn salvation. The law of the Sabbath is the law of grace! It is not what we have been taught, if we have been taught Sabbath rest is a heavy burden and a dead obligation. When we rest every seventh day with joy, we proclaim our salvation by grace through faith as a free gift. We proclaim Messiah’s coming until He comes!
Psalm 78, Wisdom
Additional studies: Psalms Book Three (73-89) Index
In Deu 6, Moses’ explanation to Israel of what it means to keep the 1st Commandment, Worship and serve YHVH God alone, he instructs them to give ear to, pay heed, observe, and teach this word to the next generation. Here in Psalm 78 we learn that when the fathers do so, they open the door for their children to set their hope in God, and not forget His wonderful works.
1 Corinthians 11, All to the glory of God
Additional studies: Corinthians Index
Do not be in such hot pursuit of perfect legality that you cause others to stumble, because that does not bring glory to God. Paul is saying, Lay down what you want, no matter how just it is for you to have what you want, if what you want will hurt someone else. So simple, and yet so hard for the flesh to let go of its bone! What bone have we got between our teeth today? Help us to drop it at Your feet, Lord!
