According to Benjamin Franklin. His autobiography ends in 1757, and a Franklin descendant has completed the autobiography from Franklin’s papers to the end of his life. The Compleated Autobiography (due out this week!) contains Franklin’s story of the Plymouth colony proposing another fast day for that infamous autumn, when a farmer stood up and proposed a thanksgiving instead, to acknowledge God’s providence. The thanksgiving feast proposal was adopted, which is why we will feast tomorrow instead of fast. And The Compleated Autobiography is going on my wish list (Broken link, active November 23, 2005)!
