The Ten Commandments are often expressed negatively: “Do not commit murder.” But they can also be flipped positively: “Do honor the sanctity of life.” Thus, it is incumbent upon us to preserve life when we have the opportunity to do so. Likewise the negative command, “Do not bear false witness,” can be understood as “Do bear true witness.” And this was Ezekiel’s charge. Witness to the truth that you know!
Psalm 122, Chiastic Structure
Additional studies: Psalms, Book Five: Psalms 107-150 Index
We are looking at a time of pilgrimage to Jerusalem, when the throne of the house of David is once more established in Jerusalem for judgment, and the twelve tribes of Israel are once more united in the worship of YHVH God. How interesting, then, that vs. 2 declares our feet are already within the gates of Jerusalem! For if we are YHVH’s, then our citizenship is with the New Jerusalem already! ♥
