Essential Studies.
Ezekiel 21 and 22, Removing the dross
Additional studies: Ezekiel Index
A wise man listens to instruction and correction. It is much better to change our ways through instruction, because it is easier for us! When we will not change our ways by instruction, then we have chosen the harder way: to have our ways changed for us by consequences for sin. YHVH never begins with consequences — He always begins with instruction. Consequences are harder and much more painful to go through. But they will get the job done.
Psalm 130:1-131:3, Chiastic structure
Additional studies: Psalms, Book Five: Psalms 107-150 Index
When things don’t go as planned, or when afflictions strike, our first tendency is panic. Fear, worry, and doubt. But the psalmist calms and quiets his soul as a child is quieted with his mother. The psalmist does not expect God to twang him with His fairy godmother wand, for peace to descend. No, he calms and quiets his own soul, by realizing he is not alone, his Parent will take care of things, and he can wait for Him to do so, hoping and trusting in Him.
1 Peter 3, Returning blessing for reviling
Additional studies: 1 & 2 Peter Index
We do not revile back or speak evil back, because he who curses Abraham and his seed (us, hello!) is self-inviting a curse on his own head. We do not need to add to it. But we bless others because we can afford to be generous. It is from the good and generous Lord’s hand that we inherit our blessing, after all! ♥
