Do not miss the message of the E pair! YHVH had poured out His fury on Israel because of her uncleanness and impurity. But He will not do it that way a second time. Instead,
• He sprinkles clean water on her, so that her impurity is cleansed.
• He pours out His Spirit upon her, not His fury.
• He regathers her to her own land, not scatters her the nations.
• He causes her to walk faithfully in His statutes so that His name is glorified, not reproached.
The new birth, new heart, and baptism of the Spirit sing of the re-NEW-ed covenant!
Psalm 144, Chiastic structure
Additional studies: Psalms, Book Five: Psalms 107-150 Index
Notice that the praise is sung before the peaceful result manifests? Yes, it sings (present tense) even while the battle is still raging and before the victory is secure. But in faith the victory is secure, as God wins all His battles! ♥
1 John 4, Perfect love
Additional studies: 1, 2, & 3 John Index
Most Bible translations translate vs. 17 something like, “By this has love been perfected in us …” But I have it in my notes as, “By this has love been fully realized in us …” The Greek does not mean ‘perfect, flawless,’ but ‘to be finished.’ Yes, that finished, as in “He said, ‘It is finished,’ and bowed His head, giving up His spirit” (Joh 19:30).
