Essential Studies.
Isaiah 17 and 18, The banner on the mountains
Additional studies: Isaiah Index
In Exo 17, the first occurrence of “banner” in Scripture, Moses held aloft the rod of God, and as long as he did so, Israel prevailed over her enemies. From this event Moses named the altar, Yehovah is my Banner, i.e., YHVH is He who we lift aloft so that Israel prevails. Here in Isaiah, the Root of Jesse, who is Messiah Yeshua, is the banner lifted up, gleaming from afar as a signal to the nations to come under the protection of the King. He is the standard to which both Israel (Ephraim dispersed, that is, Gentiles or Christians) and Judah will repair (Isa 11:12). Judah is already being regathered to her homeland. Can Ephraim be far behind? And when the last of the Gentiles has come in, all Israel will be saved (Rom 11:25-26)!
Psalm 65:1-66:20, Chiastic structure
Additional studies: Psalms, Book Two: Psalms 42-72 Index
God on His throne is awesome in power. and He is not ignorant of the nations and their tumults against Him. He stills the tumults of the people! There is a great revival going on underground in all the Muslim world. The Gospel has been circumventing the globe westward from Jerusalem since the age of the apostles and it is coming home to Jerusalem. As it does so the Prince of Peace will come, stilling the tumult of the peoples, and bringing them before the throne of God, to make His praise glorious in all the earth — all the earth, even in the Muslim world.
Philippians 4, Ability to do all things
Additional studies: Philippians Index
Paul can do all things through the One who strengthens him. He can be brought low, he can abound; he can be full, he can be hungry; because Messiah Yeshua strengthens him (increases his power physically, mentally, in substance or influence) in whatever circumstance he is in. And, Messiah Yeshua is enough.
