according to His likeness

I realized when I read this passage recently, that up until this point, every living thing that God had made, He made according to something:

Grass, herbs, and fruit trees according to their kind;

Sea creatures according to their kind;

Every winged bird according to its kind;

Beast of the earth according to its kind;

Cattle according to its kind;

Every creeping thing according to its kind.

But not man. Man is not made “according to its kind.” That is because God made man in His image, according to His likeness. We — I — have been made according to Him. In His pattern. I was created to be His. This blows my mind. ♥
