Pride, the especially deep pit and snare for all who are in authority, and the snare which has entrapped the sons of David (even David himself, but from which he was freed through repentance) again and again! Keeping ourselves in the word of God, not neglecting Torah, but continuing in it, all the days of our lives, to do its commandments, is the safeguard God has provided, for us and our children.

“To return” can be understood as God returning David back to safety or a state of well-being from a place of danger, thus rescuing him from destruction. It’s not only about moving him away from harm, although it is that, but also then restoring him to a place of security or safety.
So the Hebrew of verse 17 is literally saying, “Rescue me from their destructions, and return me back to a secure place in You, Father. Then restore my life from whatever ruin the enemy has caused.” And He will!

This incident took place 3-1/2 years after Yeshua rose from the dead. In those 3-1/2 years, Peter continued to obey the dietary laws. Notice he says that he has never eaten anything common or unclean? He is going by the definition of clean and unclean food, given in the Torah (Lev 11). The resurrection of Yeshua did not change Peter’s eating habits. If the theology is, now that Yeshua has been crucified and raised from the dead, the Law has been done away with and Yeshua has declared all foods clean, what was Peter doing still obeying the dietary laws for 3-1/2 years? He continued in the dietary law because Scripture is very clear that believers are to continue to obey God and His commandments (Jer 31:33, Eze 36:25-27, and many other places in the Hebrew Testament, Joh 14:15, Rom 3:31, and many other places in the Greek Testament).
