Furthermore, God goes farther than any other god by calling His people His children. Children bear their family’s name, and when they do not walk in their family’s ways, they profane their family’s name. The children of God are called to walk in His ways, bearing His name (Num 6:22-27). To not walk in His way is to profane His name, and declare oneself not a family member.

The ancient landmark of Torah, being the Law of liberty (Psa 119:45, Jam 1:25) increases freedom. When people control themselves from within, then governmental controls from without are not necessary. Human precept increases oppression. The ancient landmark of Torah, being the beginning of wisdom (Psa 111:10), increases sound judgment among men. Human precept increases folly leading to destruction (Pro 14:12).
Psalm 38, Anguish Because of Sin

That is, godly sorrow—true anguish of heart because someone realizes the gravity and wickedness of their sin—leads to salvation. Why? Because confession and repentance (vs. 18) are the fruit of godly sorrow, and salvation is the fruit of confession and repentance (vs. 22). Worldly sorrow is sorrow that sin has been found out, and now there is a penalty to pay. But worldly sorrow does not acknowledge the gravity or wickedness of the sin, and so, when the penalty is over, they return to the sin. Since there has been no confession or repentance, there is no fruit of salvation, and death is the ultimate result of a life of unrepented sin.
