How interesting that all these territories are today possessed by enemies of Israel who rejoice in her calamity. There is some evidence that the modern Palestinians might be ethnic Edomites, as the Jordanians, who inhabit the former territory of Edom, and the Palestinians are ethnically the same people. At any rate, the word of YHVH which Obadiah brought forward describes the ultimate restoration of Israel to her land, reclaiming all the territory originally given to her by YHVH, which is today possessed by those who rejoice over her calamity. It is the word of YHVH which will prevail and come to pass!

So there are natural cities, and spiritual cities. Jerusalem is a natural city, a Natural Picture of the place where God’s name is established forever and His glory dwells among His people. And that place is the spiritual city of Zion, excellent in glory, excellent in strength, the City of the Great King.

Citizens of natural cities are citizens of the kingdoms of this world. Citizens of the spiritual city of Zion, are citizens of the kingdom of heaven.

Paul was instrumental, because he was not content to sit at home and coexist with the pagans around him. He first bore witness of the Lord Jesus Christ in the synagogue to the Jews for three months. Now many believed – only some were hardened, it says. But when those who were hardened began to speak evil of the Way of the Lord Jesus Christ, the believers departed the synagogue, and Paul began teaching in the School of Tyrannus daily. Since the rise of the Greek empire, in the major cities, any teacher or philosopher who gained a following could open a “school” where he taught his followers his philosophy. Schools dedicated to different philosophers were prevalent in the ancient world under the influence of Hellenistic culture.
