The Deu 16:18-18:22 central axis of the chiasm, about the excellence of the unblemished sacrifice, is unusual, coming as it does in the middle of the discourse on proper exercise of authority. It is a Natural Picture prophecy of Messiah—He is the unblemished Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. He is, in fact, our Judge, King, High Priest, and Prophet. All the delegated authority of God finds its home in Him. But at the very heart of that Authority (Deu 16:18-18:22), is the Lamb who laid down His own sinless and spotless life (Deu 17:1), because His love for us is great …!

The seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, worship the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Their seed are spiritual seed as well as biological seed. And there are those who are biological seed, who are only named by the house of Jacob, but who are not the seed of Jacob in truth. Therefore, “Against this family I am devising disaster.” Which family? Not the true family of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but the family of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, so-called, who do not worship YHVH or walk in His ways.

When His people begin to examine themselves … yes, He may show them hard things, in which they have strayed from the truth. But for those who fear Him, He has given a banner of truth, an unshakable and unchangeable standard around which to repair: the Written Word and the Living Word, whose substance cast the shadow of the Written Word. He is Yehovah Nissi, YHVH is our Banner (Exo 17:15).
