A high school teacher in Colorado — my home state — is up to his eyeballs in controversy after stating in his classroom that President Bush is like Hitler and that America is “probably the single most violent nation on planet Earth.” Was this a political science class? A comparative history class? How about American history? Current events? No, on all counts. The teacher’s personal political views were part of his lecture in his world geography class. Yes, Hitler is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of world geography, too.
This is why we homeschool.

Update: continued in Colorado controversy, continued

Its things like this that make me more determined than ever to homeschool Zane! Teachers shouldn’t let their political or personal agenda into the classroom. Unfortunately, I think scenarios like this are happening everywhere, everyday. Thank you for keeping the motivation to homeschool so prevalent in my mind, Mom!

Yep, I heard about this. It really reminds me of why we homeschool, too.

How long will it be before MP3 players are banned from school? I bet if this trend continues it won’t be long. Proof that the schools don’t want true accountability.
