Essential Studies.
Jeremiah 43 and 44, On fleeing to Egypt
Additional studies: Jeremiah Index
When Jeremiah told the remnant what they did not want to hear they fled to Egypt anyway, and there judgment followed them until they too were captives in Babylon. The desires of our hearts can be life or death to us, so guard our hearts with all diligence, for from it spring the issues of life (Pro 4:23).
Proverbs 1, And the fear of YHVH
Additional studies: Proverbs Index
To fear YHVH simply means, to respect the boundaries He has set for us. It is to be loathe to cross those boundaries because we are loathe to cross Him, inviting His displeasure, disappointment, or discipline. It checks us from going blindly on because we love Him and want His approval!
Revelation 1, The introduction to the vision
Additional studies: Revelation Index
The Church has long read Revelation the same way she read Daniel: as unfolding historical prophecy. God spoke continuously to Israel from Moses until Malachi; then came four centuries of silence broken only when John the Baptist cried, “Behold the Lamb!” Daniel, standing at the edge of that silence, was shown (in chapters 7–12) everything that would happen in the world until the Word became flesh and spoke in person. It was history leading up to Messiah’s first advent. Now, after another burst of divine speech through the apostles (which became our New Testament), John, the last living apostle, stood on the edge of a new silence. The risen Yeshua gave him the vision recorded in Revelation, showing precisely what would unfold in history until Messiah’s second advent, returning in glory!
