Don’t throw it out. Mend it!

Sew on a loose or lost button.

Mend a dropped hem, duplicating the serger’s overlock stitch.

Mend a dropped hem, using a blind stitch.

To repair an opened seam, use a ladder stitch.

Mending hacks to repair a tear or hole in fabric.

Or, once you have stabilized the hole using fusible interfacing or a patch, embroider over it (and here) to hide the repair.

Mend a rip or hole in jeans.

Or if the jeans are too far gone, convert them into a cute bag (and here, and here).

Darn a hole in a knit fabric. This is an easy hack to fix a hole in socks.
