Previously: Effectual, fervent prayer, part two
So this is how we have been praying for the unbeliever that we are praying for, based on the will of God as revealed through the Scriptures:
Father, we thank you that you love John Doe [not the real name, of course], and that it is not Your will that he should perish. Even if the god of this world has previously blinded John’s mind, we thank You that You are the God who opens the blind eyes, even the eyes of the heart! Not only that, but You are the God who gives life to John’s deadness and calls John into existence as Your child. Open the eyes of John’s heart, Lord, we pray, and give sight to him to see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ. Yes, You have triumphed over the god of this world, and in the name of Jesus we say that the god of this world may no longer blind John’s mind with darkness, for the life of Jesus Christ is John’s light, and has overcome the darkness! Thank you that Your word is truth, and that You watch over Your word to perform it, even in John’s life. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
So we have only been praying this way for a few weeks, and I will let you all know when this unbeliever comes to faith in Jesus Christ!! It is so wonderful to have confidence that God hears your prayers!
