Read Isaiah 12 here (text coming …) or at Bible Gateway.
The Hebrew paragraphs:
11:11-12:6 {s} Remnant of Judah and Ephraim returned/ the banner for the nations/ salvation and praise.
The Chiastic structure:
How interesting that there is the mention of Ephraim’s envy!
What about the parable of the prodigal son (Luk 15:11–32)? The younger son went off to squander his father’s inheritance among the Gentiles, but while living in the pig pen, he came to his senses and returned to his father’s house. What an amazing picture of Ephraim dispersed among the Gentiles! And the older brother, who never left, became envious when his younger brother is received with joy. What an amazing picture of Judah who has remained faithful to the Father!
But the promise in Isaiah assures us the envy will cease, and the two will be reunited in Messiah!
