20:3-6 {p} Isaiah walked naked and barefoot as a sign to Egypt and Cush, that Assyria will lead them captive
The Strong theme:
19:1-20:6 {sx6+p} Through Messiah, YHVH transforms enemies into covenant brothers
The Chiastic structure:
What is the Chiastic Structure Teaching Tool teaching?
In Isaiah’s lifetime, Judah was divided from Israel, Assyria was everyone’s enemy, and Egypt was an unreliable ally (outer bookends). But the central axis highlights that Israel is one of three with Assyria and Egypt, a blessing in the midst of the earth.
The teaching: Due to the Savior and the Mighty One (Isa 19:20), Judah and Israel are reunited, and Assyria and Egypt are no longer enemies or perilous neighbors, but beloved brothers in God’s triumvirate of blessing.
Or another way to say it: In the peaceable kingdom under Messiah that’s coming, the wolf will lie down with the lamb, and former enemies are beloved covenant family.
