Read Jeremiah 19 and 20 at Bible Gateway.

Jeremiah chapters 13 through 20 chiastic structure:

1) Jer 13:1-27 {p+p+sx5} Object lesson of the linen sash/ plea for repentance rejected + they have forgotten Me;

Jer 13:1-2 {p} YHVH to Jeremiah: Get a linen sash, and gird your waist with it/ Jeremiah did
Jer 13:3-7 {p} Hide the sash in a hole in the rock, and after many days dig it up/ Jeremiah did, it was ruined
Jer 13:8-10 {s} So I will ruin the pride of Judah + Jerusalem, for this evil people are profitable for nothing
b) Jer 13:11-17 {s+s} Plea for repentance: I am your glory; if you refuse I will not have mercy, therefore repent now;
Jer 13:11-12a {s} As a sash clings to the waist, so this people cling to Me for glory, but they will not hear
Jer 13:12b-17 {s} I will fill this people with drunkenness and not have mercy/ hear + give God glory + repent now
c) Jer 13:18-19 {s} Repentance rejected: humble yourselves, for Judah shall be carried captive;

Jer 15:19-21 {s} YHVH’s answer: Let them return to you, but you must not return to them/ I will be with you;

Do not reject the plea for repentance when you hear it, for YHVH is waiting to have mercy on you! But if you harden your heart and stiffen your neck, then disaster is decreed against you.
