ESSENTIAL STUDIES.
1 Samuel 3, God revealed to Samuel
Additional studies: 1 and 2 Samuel Index
Biblically speaking, when God reveals Himself or His Word, it means that He or it has been stripped bare of anything which conceals. You may have heard that some religions or belief systems have secret knowledge, and the only way to attain to it is to progress through the ranks. Discovering secrets is the lure to hook people and keep them on the path. According to Webster’s, “occult” means that which has been shut off from view or exposure. But not so God, or His Word. God stripped Himself bare of concealment to Samuel when he was just a boy. Any Christian or religious denomination or philosophy which dangles secrets has outed itself as unbiblical, unscriptural, and ungodly.
Psalm 138:8, Perfecting what concerns me
Additional studies: Psalms Book Five (107-150) Index
When a garden has been wrought out of a wild patch of weeds; when a horse has been tamed to the command of the horseman, when a child has been tamed to the teaching of his parents, and when we have bent our wills to the teaching of our Shepherd contained in Torah, then we are perfected. The Hebrew is painting quite a different definition of “perfect” from what we have been told, and it is quite liberating for those, like myself, who are recovering perfectionists.
Ephesians 1, Guaranteeing the promise
Additional studies: Ephesians Index
You also … were sealed with the Holy Spirit of the promise, which is the pledge of our inheritance, for the redemption of the possession, to the praise of His glory. Eph 1:13-14
That He has given us His Spirit, is our pledge, our guarantee, our down payment of our future redemption as God’s possession. We are God’s inheritance (v. 11), and our inheritance (v. 14) is the full redemption of ourselves as His possession. *mind blown*
