YHVH will receive Israel’s worship, and He will bring them into the bond of the covenant, purging from them those who transgress against Him (rebelling against His commandments, by definition; vs. 20:37-38). This pleading and purging takes place in the wilderness of the peoples. After the rebels are purged, then He will bring them into the land He promised to give their fathers (20:40). He will accept our service as a sweet aroma, the same phrase used in Leviticus describing the acceptable sacrifice! ♥
Psalm 130, Chiastic structure
Additional studies: Psalms, Book Five: Psalms 107-150 Index
God not only forgives sin because He is merciful, but He also redeems from iniquity. He delivers from the allure and chains and bondage of sin, changing the person from the inside out, so that the desire to sin is no longer there, in a process the New Testament calls, “sanctification.”
1 Peter 2, The lost sons of the house of Israel
Additional studies: 1 & 2 Peter Index
Peter is preaching from the book of Hosea and its fulfillment now that Messiah has come. The people of the Diaspora (1 Pet 1:1) are the people of Israel who were sown like the seed of Hosea’s prophecy. Peter is saying believers in Messiah Yeshua become the royal priesthood (kings + priests, the transcendant order of Melchizedek)! New Covenant believers, Peter is preaching to you about your identity in Messiah as a long-lost son of the house of Israel!
