On this side of heaven, the one who does wickedly will die when the sword of judgment comes, and the one who does what is lawful and right will live when the sword of judgment comes. If we are doing what is lawful and right, then the sword is not coming for us. It’s purpose is to cleanse the land of abominations and those who do them. Take heart, beloved of YHVH! And let your witness shine a light and a warning to all around about you far and wide!

His steadfast love is forever (endures is not in the Hebrew). ‘Steadfast love’ is Strong’s H2617, chesed, an abstract concept from Strong’s H2616 חסד chasad, “to be kind, merciful, or loyal.” The parable the Hebrew Root Word is telling is of the wall (chet) of protection (sin) behind which one shelters when the door (dalet) is opened (see Joh 10:9). Here chesed should be translated as “steadfast love” in English Bibles as it emphasizes His enduring, unwavering commitment (“His steadfast love chesed endures forever” Psa 136:1). It describes chesed as covenant loyalty as an act of will and reliability. Chesed can also be translated as “lovingkindness” or “mercy” depending on the context. It’s a word without a direct English equivalent, indicating a covenantal love-mercy-loyalty blend.
