Read Psalm 12 at Bible Gateway.
The words of the LORD are pure words,
Like silver tried in a furnace of earth,
Purified seven times. Psa 12:6
“Tried” is in Hebrew, the same word used to mean, to melt a metal, especially for the purpose of purging the impurities of other rock and minerals (called “dross”), from the gold or silver, so that what is left after the “trying” is pure gold and pure silver.
The words of the LORD are pure, free of impurities or falsehoods, like gold and silver that has gone through the refiner’s fire seven times, to remove every last speck of dross from the finished product.
So it comes as no surprise, that even though skeptics for centuries used Gen 23 as proof that the Bible was full of errors, since no evidence of Hittites had ever been found in any source outside the Bible, that all stopped the day the spade unearthed — evidence of Hittites! And not only evidence that they existed, but the norm for their commercial transactions, it turns out, is exactly what we read in Gen 23! Every word of His is pure, purified seven times!
