Psalm 7 Chiastic structure
There is a lot to unpack in this psalm which the chiastic structure reveals, and I admit I don’t understand it all. But one thing I did notice as a recurring theme, is that God executes judgment for a specific reason, which is not because He delights in punishment or in lording it over others. It is to bring the wickedness of the wicked to an end (central axis). He is angry with the wicked because wickedness hurts people, and usually, it is the righteous who become victims at the hands of the wicked. The righteous do not spend their time conceiving trouble for others; the righteous do not expend energy in digging pits to cause others to fall. It is not the wicked who become victims at the hands of the righteous. It is on behalf of the righteous that God acts with just judgments against the wicked.
