Some charge God with injustice or wrong because He said, “I have created the destroyer to ruin.” But the context is made clear by the structure: If someone stirs up strife against Israel, it is not at His instigation. God is assuring Israel that as the Creator, He is in control of the destroyer and his weapons. So if the Creator says, “No weapon formed against you will prosper,” He means, NO weapon, including anything the smith and destoyer can come up with.

That which your eye beholds becomes a source of good and light, or evil and darkness to your person. Therefore Scripture contains the admonition to guard your eyes from worthless things (Psa 119:37). That is the natural application. The spiritual application is in what your eye perceives. If your eye perceives good, and the hand of God, even in a bad circumstance, that which is bad cannot pollute you with darkness. If your eye perceives evil even in a good circumstance, that evil pollutes you with darkness, even if it is a lie and in reality the evil does not exist. It all comes down to a little perspective. ♥

Both bishops and deacons must be husbands of one wife. You know, there is wisdom in the Word of God that offends people, and not only secular people. But let’s think about this for a moment, if a requirement of faithfully married men for leadership is offensive. A man who has been faithful to one imperfect woman with patience and grace, has displayed a proven character of faithfulness, loyalty, gentleness, patience and grace, which God desires His shepherds to have for His flock. There are many lost sheep today who have been hurt by the callousness or hardness or pride of people in authority in the Church. You cannot remain the husband of one wife if your character qualities are callousness, hardness, or pride. Either you will leave her, or she will beat you to the door! Beloved, if the church refused to appoint people in authority except for those who displayed the qualifications in 1 Tim 3, we might have less lost and wounded sheep wandering around without a shepherd.
