I asked the Lord to show me new ways I can be a better helpmeet to my husband this year, but this idea will also work for busy Moms with kids. I made a simplified family calendar in Word, snipped it with the snipping tool to turn it into a picture, and sent the pic to his phone at the beginning of the month. In one glance he can be reminded of important events without the hassle of learning a calendar app (the pic is generic, our real one has the specific info in it).
This way I am the only one who has to keep a detailed calendar, and the husband or the kids can benefit from my organization without the nagging or constant reminders. The kids’ calendars would be similar, minus the bill or work reminders, and can include chores and school assignments or events. Their calendars can be printed from Word instead of turned into a pic, and kept in their school notebook.
Some guys are great at new apps but my sweetheart isn’t one of them, LOL. Being a helpmeet with whatever helps!
So how do I stay organized? I have tried app after app. In the end, what is working best for me is Evernote. One of my notebooks is “Calendar,” and within that notebook I have seven Forever Calendar templates. No matter what month is coming up, it will start with one of the seven days of the week. For the January calendar pictured, January started on a Tuesday, so I used the Tuesday Forever Calendar template to copy and paste into the January 2019 note. I also have daily, weekly, monthly, and annual master list templates. I go through them all and plug the appropriate items into my current calendar. Then all I have to do is add the unique events for that month (such as work deadlines.) I am finding it a great tool!
