1 corinthians 13:4-8[/caption]
We often read this definition of love in the Scripture, and think, “Gee, I need to do better to love others that way.” But what God has been impressing upon me lately, is that first and foremost, this is the way He loves me. God is love after all (1 Joh 4:8). God suffers long and is kind to me. God does not envy me when good things happen for me, but He plans those good things for me (Jer 29:11)! He does not parade Himself or puff Himself up at my expense. He does not treat me rudely, or seek His own benefit at my expense. Even though I mess up and am imperfect, He is not provoked by me! He does not think evil of me, but only good. If a misfortune were to befall me, He does not delight in it, but rejoices over me when I believe the truth about Him and His love for me, and not the lie the enemy would have me believe (Zep 3:17). He bears me at all times, always believes the best of me, hopes all good things for me, and endures all evil things with me. He never fails me nor forsakes me. ♥
