In the UK, the headlines are that thousands of FIVE year olds can’t write their names after billions spent on preschool education. People, people. Five years old is too young to expect all children to write. Why doesn’t Sweden have headlines like that? They don’t begin school until age seven (one thing they do right). By then, fine motor coordination has developed in most children to the point that they will be able to write. Britain, if you spend your billions at the right time, when your children are ready and able to learn the specific skill you are trying to teach them, you will find that it will not be a waste of money!
