Bernard Lewis has posted August 22: Does Iran have something in store? at the Wall Street Journal, concerning the possible plans of the president of Iran and the country’s nuclear capabilities. Mr. Lewis is professor emeritus of Near East Studies at Princeton, and author of a book which has been sitting on my nightstand waiting for a reading, The Middle East. His unparalleled insight into that region is virtually unmatched by anyone in the West.
Speaking of the crazy president of Iran, Mike Wallace of CBS did an interview with him, and apparently has been completely charmed (Broken link, active August 15, 2006) by a leader he called ‘reasonable’ and not ‘anti-Jewish’, and was troubled that he has been compared to Hitler. Wow. These news folks just seem driven like lemmings to commit journalistic suicide, don’t they?

Update: The Irish Trojan wonders if the big airplane plot which was just foiled was the attack Bernard Lewis thought might happen on August 22. (Hat tip: Pajamas Media.) Apparently they were scheduled for a dry run a few days from now; Al Qaeda also did a dry run before 9-11. Let’s hope so.

Update: Ooooops, I guess not. The airline plot was scheduled for August 16th, not the 22nd, according to a new report from London.

08/11/06 Update: Okay, there is a pattern now. Why do three Middle Eastern men need 1000 untraceable cell phones?
***
08/15/06 Update: More middle eastern men making mass purchases of untraceable cell phones. And Osama says the airline plot wasn’t his; that he is working on something much bigger on U.S. soil.

Update: Oh, marvelous. Let’s hope they will take the FBI to their leader.

ROFL I guess he had better define “reasonable” to me.
