Isaiah 6, The danger of having a fat heart

Does God sovereignly close up someone’s heart so that they cannot hear, even if they are seeking to hear? I do not believe that is what Isa 6:10 is saying. David has the sense of it from Psa 17:10 – they have already closed their fat hearts, so that they cannot hear. Yeshua echoes this understanding when quoting Isa 6:10 in the Gospels. Those who take heed how they hear, who have ears to hear, will be given more light, sight, and understanding. Those who do not take heed have already chosen, and God honors their choice.
Psalm 56, Chiastic structure

As the thoughts of the wicked are against the righteous for evil, the thoughts of God are for the righteous for good (Jer 29:11). As the wicked mark the steps of the righteous to lie in wait for him to trip him up, God marks the wanderings and tears of the righteous, to wait for him to bless him. In a contest between the wicked and God, whose plans and purposes are going to win out? This is why David has confidence to say, “I will trust in You, I will not be afraid,” even though we will experience temporary tribulation in this world because of sinfulness. ♥
Ephesians 2, Breaking down the dividing wall
Additional studies: Ephesians Index
The “certificate of debt” contained in “decrees against us” is what is hostile to us. That is the enmity. A “certificate of debt” is in Greek, a cheirographon: a list of the crimes which a criminal had committed, written out, which was posted at his execution, or posted outside his jail cell. It was for these transgressions of the law that the criminal was in chains. Pilate posted a cheirographon over the head of Jesus when He was crucified. Jesus’ cheirographon read, “The King of the Jews.” It is not the Torah, which is holy and just and good, which was hostile to us, but the list of our transgressions of the Torah which was hostile to us – since it was because of that list that we were condemned to die.
