Read Exodus 12 here or at Bible Gateway.
The Hebrew paragraphs:
12:1-20 {p} Passover and Unleavened Bread instruction
12:21-28 {s} Israel observed the Passover as YHVH had commanded Moses
12:29-36 {p} Final plague: death of the firstborn
12:37-42 {p} Israel ceased their sojourn in Egypt
12:43-50 {s} The ordinance of the Passover
12:51 {p} YHVH brought Israel out of Egypt
The Exo 12:21-36 Strong Theme makes a Chiastic Structure:
So what is the Strong Theme? The first thing I noticed is that the A pair does not show an equivalence, but rather a cause and effect. Israel applied the blood of the Passover lamb to the doorposts of their houses (1A), and when the angel of death passed over them but struck the firstborn of Egypt, Israel was delivered from their slavery in Egypt and sent out of the land in haste (2A). This is the Torah preaching the gospel of grace. When we apply the blood of the Passover Lamb to the doorposts of our hearts, we are delivered from slavery to sin, death, and all the power of the devil, embodied in the kingdom of darkness, and set free as a citizen of the kingdom of heaven. Hallelujah!
Strong Themes:
11:1-12:20 {sx3+p} Warning of the final plague
12:21-42 {s+p+p} On the night of the Passover, the death of the firstborn; so that Israel ceased their sojourn in Egypt
12:43-51 {s+p} Keep the Passover, for by it YHVH brought Israel out of Egypt
