We have a unique opportunity in history to see what happens when we ignore God’s command. God commanded us to be fruitful and multiply, and encouraged us to obey Him by linking hearth and home, wife and children as the mark of a man favored and blessed by God. The secularists have spent the 19th century selling the opposite view to society, often with unintended consequences (Broken link, active July 13, 2005).
As a result, Europe, which has always been decades ahead of America in secularization, is undergoing population decline at an alarming rate; Europe’s dropping birth rate is leading to its de-population “in numbers not seen since the Black Death in the fourteenth century.” Even Newsweek recently reported on the population decline in Europe: in Germany, a low birth rate and rural
flight is pushing large swaths of the countryside back to its primal state, with wolves taking the place of people. Theologian and author George Weigel ties Europe’s dangerous population decline to its spiritual decline, which is bringing about the disintegration of the traditional family, in his book, The Cube and the Cathedral: Europe, America, and Politics Without God.
What the Mohammedans could not do for the valor of Christendom’s defenders from 732 ad at the battle of Poitiers through the defeat of the Ottoman Turks in World War I, Europe is doing to herself by committing generational suicide. The only demographic with a positive birth rate is the immigrants, and the majority of these are Muslim.
So the next time someone asks you in the grocery store, “Are all these children yours?!” in that incredulous and condescending tone, just smile.
