Today’s notes.
The bookends of the Psa 26 Chiasm posted below:
1A) 26:1A JUDGE me, O YHVH;
2A) 26:12B In the congregations I will BLESS YHVH. {p}
How on earth do these pair? The puzzle is solved when we investigate by the Hebrew root word parables.
TO JUDGE is Strong’s H8199 שפט shaphat;
TO BLESS is Strong’s H1288 ברך barak;
David asks YHVH to judge him, for he has walked in his integrity. “To judge,” from the Hebrew root word parable, is to pronounce a word with the mouth; i.e., to make a decree, a proclamation, that holds or passes the scrutiny of time and circumstances as a true word. He is asking YHVH to pronounce over him a true word with His mouth.
Then he declares that he will bless YHVH. “To bless,” from the Hebrew root word parable, is to fill the upturned hands with good things. When YHVH blesses us, that is, fills our hands with good things, then we bless Him, we fill our mouths with the good things He has done for us. We testify! David is declaring that he will pronounce over YHVH a true word with his mouth.
