Jeroboam had forsaken YHVH, and His commandments, and was acting as high priest to the idols he had made (1 Kin 13:33), as well as king, as the nations had done since the Tower of Babel rebellion. So why did he not inquire, concerning his son, of the idols he had made? Why did he send to a prophet of YHVH, the God of Israel, whom he had forsaken? Precisely because he knew that the idols he had made were false and could not answer him, while YHVH, the God of Israel, was the true God who knows the end from the beginning. When the rubber meets the road, deep down men know who is God and who is not, and they contradict all their protestations to the contrary when their back is against the wall.

Because of the first structure which declares the amazing prophecy of Messiah Yeshua’s crucifixion, we have the second structure, which describes the glorious reign of Messiah in His kingdom, to the ends of the earth. All the families of the nations will be restored to God to worship before Him (vs. 27). This is a direct Common Theme teaching backward to the Tower of Babel rebellion against God (Gen 11:1-9), where all the families of the nations gathered together as one to reject God as Creator and God (and is the historical root of paganism), and a direct Common Theme teaching forward to the vision of John recorded in Rev 7:9-10, of all the families of earth, gathered together as one before YHVH on His throne, worshiping Him.

As disciples we testify of Jesus by the words of our witness. But what is it that testifies of Jesus, that He came from the Father, and went back to the Father, His body not being in the grave because He was raised up in the power of the Spirit, in resurrection life, being the firstfruits of the resurrection to come? First, it is when we ask the Father for something in the name of Jesus – and He does it! Like healing the sick, raising the dead, feeding thousands, calming storms – any of the works that Jesus did. This is one reason why receiving the power inherent in the baptism of the Holy Spirit is integral to the witness of the disciples. Second, there is another power the Holy Spirit imparts, besides the miraculous gifts of the Spirit – and that is the power of a transformed life. It is through the agency of the Spirit, the prophets tell us, that we will receive a new heart, and become carefully diligent to obey all the Father’s commandments and statutes (Eze 36:25-27).
